Goodbye Multiply…

Opened my Multiply account yesterday (06 Sept 2012) and was surprised to see this message…

Hello. Stefan here, writing you from Multiply HQ in Jakarta, Indonesia.

As most of you are probably aware, Multiply’s mission has evolved over the past year and a half to become the biggest and most beloved ecommerce marketplace in two very exciting markets, Indonesia and the Philippines. As our focus has shifted, we have reviewed all of our operations, and made some decisions that will affect everyone here.

From December 1st, we will unfortunately no longer be able to support Multiply in its current form – notably we will be removing the social networking and content sharing part of Multiply (photos, videos, blogs, social messaging, etc.). We have decided to discontinue providing and hosting these services, as we have concluded that other Internet sites who are committed to social networking services will do a better job serving you than we can.

For our existing users of social networking features, we will be providing easy ways for you to either download your stuff (photos, blogs, content, etc), or migrate it to other online services. We’ll announce the precise details shortly. It will be your choice whether to download, migrate or just let your content lapse (and get deleted).

For our existing ecommerce users (both buyers and sellers) in Indonesia and the Philippines, there will be no action required.

Regarding any existing Multiply Premium subscriptions we will refund any unused balance, and apologize for any inconvenience this will cause. Please contact customer service to request a refund. Note that this is for Multiply Premium, not the ecommerce related Multiply Trust product.

I am aware of how disruptive this news may be, and understand the disappointment that it may cause. Ultimately this was a business decision, critical to our to success moving forward. Instead, we are excited to pursue our own mission to give the 350 million consumers in Indonesia and the Philippines a great way to buy and sell items online. Our singular focus now is for Multiply to retain its status as a vibrant e-commerce destination in Southeast Asia in the years ahead.

I suspect that many of you will not like this news, and am sorry to have to deliver it now. I hope that you will be able to understand the reasons for our decision and thank you for being a part of the Multiply community over the past eight years.

So I guess its time to say goodbye to Multiply and find another place to keep my photos…

I’m presently “trying” SlickPic and I really hope it works better than Multiply. Also hoping that Miltiply can help in transferring my photos from their site to SlickPic.

If anyone can recommend a good photo sharing site thats for free… Please feel free to post the links in “comments”

I have finally signed up for an Instagram account.

I started this account hoping to get more audience for my photos.

Please note that my photos will not be purely taken and edited using my iPhone.

Some uploaded photos will be taken using my D90 (#D90) and DMC FT3 (#FT3).

For those who wants to follow me, or at least view the photos I have uploaded, just search for world_of_ice

Shoot: Fashion

I have been regularly attending shoots here in Singapore.

I find it tiring and relaxing at the same time.

Physically tiring since you’re carrying this bag of equipment for half a day, finding the perfect angle to shoot your model and once you get home, you turn on the PC to start the selection (of photos) and editing.

Relaxing… its something I do which is totally not related to work.

Last 23 January 2010, I have attended a shoot organized by Venom81 of Clubsnap, click here to view the thread.

I normally post my favorite photos on various websites in order to receive comments and critiques, this is my first time to post my shots here.

I have also played with some of the photos.

This is another photo of Anastasia.

And this photo was actually my first time using Nikon’s CLS.

All photos were taken in Clarke Quay.

My Multiply Account!

Finally, after planning to start a Multiply account for the longest time, my page is now up and running!

As of today, photos in my flickr account will almost reach 200 and if I do not upgrade to a “pro” account soon, my older photos will be “hidden”.

As I do not want to pay for online photo storage alone, I have decided to sign up to multiply in order to store my photos online.

I have no idea yet if Multiply has a limit to the number of photos stored and number of albums created, but I’m sure that before I reach the maximum, I will be able to find another site to host my photos again, I know you might be thinking how stingy I am, but in these hard economic times, its always good if we can save a little.

Don’t get me wrong, my flickr account will still be updated with my favorite photos, but if you want to see the specific album where that specific photo belongs, my Multiply site will always be available.

Nikon AF Nikkor 28-80mm f3.3-5.6G

Do I have the reason to call myself lucky to able to get my hands on a Nikon 28-80mm f3.3-5.6G lens?

I know, this is not hard to find since Nikon made a lot of these lenses but buying one nowadays means that I have to look for a pre-owned one.

I have checked a couple of reviews before searching for an owned copy of this lens and have made a lot of thinking before making the actual purchase.

This is a very light lens; it’s almost as small as the 18-55mm kit lens of the D40/60.

Made of plastic or as some sites call it… Polycarbonate!

Filter will also rotate while focusing.

In general, I am happy with this lens. It’s light, compact and cheap!

Here are photos that were taken using this lens.
