Park Hotel Alexandra

Stayed in a club room for a night… Christmas Eve 2019 to be exact.

Quick info (sorry, no photos) – Club lounge was at the 19th floor, pool, gym and restaurant (The Carvery) was at the 7th floor and the lobby on the ground floor had a coffee shop.

Around the area, the hotel is connected to a mall (Alexandra Central Mall), but don’t expect too much from it.

Beside the hotel is Ikea, across is Anchorpoint and Queensway Shopping Centre. Again, don’t expect too much, but it may be worth your visit if you planned to walk in the area.

The room, just like any modern/new business hotel in Singapore is small.

I honestly can’t imagine having 2 big bags in this room.

I have to give 2 thumbs up for the club lounge at the 19th floor… Nice space, quiet and really good staff. Even the food served during the happy hour (5:30-7:30pm) was more than enough.

The next day… breakfast at The Carvery was ok, could be great if the coffee was better. Had to go back to the lounge for coffee which had an excellent machine!

Note that the breakfast served in the club lounge was different from the spread available at The Carvery, during our visit, Lounge was more western while The Carvery was more Asian/local.

Depending on the price, Singapore itinerary and length of stay. Park Hotel like any other new hotels in Singapore is easy to recommend. Only thing I can see against it is its location

Furama City Centre

We visited this hotel last December 07, 2017 to do a quick inspection as we send some of our company guests here.

I was not able to see the pool, gym and other facilities…

But we’ve managed to see their rooms and restaurant.

The lowest tier of their rooms are pretty simple.

One thing you get is size…

The hotel is pretty old, I understand that a renovation is expected soon… But something it has over the newer hotels… SPACE!

The most inxpensive room presented to us even came with a tub!

Next tier going up…

Same room, bigger TV and you get an Echo Dot…

And yes Alexa/Echo can turn on/off the lights for you.

Club room looks nice for couples…

But the daily rate is very close to their suite…

Suite will allow you to cook and you get a regular sized 2 door fridge.

All rooms will come with a complimentary local phone with data.

About the hotel’s location

It’s walking distance to Clarke Quay and Chinatown MRT.

Furama City Centre is a 4 star hotel and I’m sure you’ll find newer and cheaper hotels in the area…

But the space and privacy you get is something to consider… The walls dividing the rooms are old school thick and hard…

Since the hotel is at Chinatown, you’re staying outside most of the time, the age of the lobby and the corridors will be easily forgotten once you’re inside the rooms.

D’Resort Singapore

Visited D’Resort over the weekend (September 26-27, 2015 to be exact)…

If my observation/understanding is correct, Costa Sands Downtown East and Pasir Ris is gone and D’Resort will be the replacement…

Nearest bus stop is Aft Loyang Gardens (2nd stop, bus 354 from Pasir Ris interchange)

D Resort

You can also alight from Downtown East (1st stop, bus 354 from Pasir Ris interchange) bus stop but it will be quite a walk.

BBQ Pits are more spacious (compared to the old Costa Sands Downtown East), rooms are also improved.

Our room had a Samsung Smart TV, regular sized 2 door fridge and a Microwave Oven.

Free WiFi was available however its very slow and unreliable.

Here are some items you should know if your planning to visit.

1. Only towels, shower gel, toilet paper and soap are provided in the toilet… Bring your own toiletries and facial tissue!

2. TV only has local channels

3. The room did not have a safe (or may be there is, but I don’t remember seeing one.

4. Signal from Singtel, Starhub and M1 were all not consistent. Singtel (iPhone 6 & 5S) cannot get a proper data (mostly GPRS only), Starhub (iPhone 6) was also bad. My S6 on M1 was getting 4G, but my daughter’s iPhone 5C was also just getting GPRS.

Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore

We have always been a fan of Shangri-La hotels…

Tried it in Makati (very long ago), we’ve regularly stayed at Shangri-La’s Rasa Sentosa Resort & Spa, but this is our first time at Shangri-La Hotel (Orchard).

First thing you have to know is that it’s actually far from Orchard Rd… But there’s a free shuttle with pick-up points at Wisma Atria and Takashimaya (Taxi Stand). The free shuttle leaves the hotel every 30 minutes… Last shuttle leaves at 8pm.

We were able to stay at the Tower Wing…

Tower Wing P

As expected, room was great.

Breakfast from The Line will cost you SGD 43.00++ but believe me, it’s worth it.

This post has very few worlds… But believe me, the experience was so good. I’m honestly having a hard time to describe it.

The Seacare Hotel (Singapore)

The Seacare Hotel

The Seacare Hotel is one of the newer hotels in Singapore.

Had an overnight stay with my family last weekend (Superior Room) and here’s what you can expect.

Location: 52, Chin Swee Road, Singapore 169875

Nearest MRT is Chinatown.

Walking directions from Google Maps states that the hotel is 10mins away from the MRT station, but you can actually walk through the food centers to cut the walking time in half (check out the red line).

SKY LOUNGE – this is located at the 16th floor of the Hotel. I believe this is reserved for corporate functions/events.

GYM – also located at the 16th floor. It has limited equipment but more than enough for your normal routine.

Room will come with a complimentary buffet breakfast for 2. Additional persons will be charged SGD 18.50.

Now for the sad part… Breakfast wasn’t good…

Choices were very limited and my coffee wasn’t hot enough.

The Seacare Hotel Breakfast

Buffet breakfast needs improvement and the location is also not convenient if you need Halal or Vegetarian meals.

Will definitely recommend The Seacare Hotel to friends who are looking for a hotel near the city area, it’s modern, new and reasonably priced.

Siloso Beach Resort

This post is long overdue, but its always better late than never.

Here’s something that surprised me…

We wanted to have a day out of the house and with hotel rates in Sentosa (Singapore) going north, we had to be creative.

After checking for prices for an overnight stay, we decided to book at Siloso Beach Resort, it was a more economical option compared to the new hotels near Universal Studios and its just in front of it is Sentosa’s Siloso Beach…

This hotel looks and feels old, even the towels have this “please replace me” feel.

But other than the hotel’s age and poor towels, this hotel is… hmmm… good!

As we were looking for an economical hotel, we had to book an economical room with 2 separate beds, here’s a photo of what our room looked like.

It will be very hard to fit 2 adults in 1 bed but the extra chair is relaxing.

Toilets has a bath tub and has basically all the basic things you’ll need…

It was also a pleasant surprise for me to realize that the room’s fridge was empty! (believe me, I find this very convenient!!!)

Outside our small room, you’ll love this hotel as it is very relaxing!

Here’s a view of their pool

And here’s a quick view of the place…

It even has a small gym just incase the sun is too hot for running along the beach…

For more photos, please click here…

I was just honestly not happy with the buffet breakfast, maybe we booked on a lean season and maybe this place will be different during peak months but for its price… our stay was worth it.
